The Kirtland Fire Department, in cooperation with Aqua Ohio, conducts testing and services the fire hydrants in the City of Kirtland and the Village of Kirtland Hills every Spring and Fall. The Spring testing typically begins in March or April and the Fall testing in September or October, and takes approximately three (3) weeks to complete. The purpose of this testing is to ensure proper operation of the city’s fire hydrants. Residents should be aware of potential water discolorations. This condition may be corrected by running the water until it is clear.

The Kirtland Fire Department also has a hydrant staking program, that takes place in the Fall. This ensures that all hydrants are visible, even in severe weather.
