THE CITY OF KIRTLAND JOINS OHIOCHECKBOOK.GOV

COLUMBUS – Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague today announced that the City of Kirtland (Lake County) has joined OhioCheckbook.gov.
“OhioCheckbook.gov provides a single, streamlined resource for Ohioans to access spending information about our state and local governments,” said Treasurer Sprague. “We’re pleased to welcome the City of Kirtland to the Ohio Checkbook platform and we commend the city for giving residents a direct look at how their tax dollars are spent.”
The City of Kirtland is the 17th public entity in Lake County to join OhioCheckbook.gov. The district’s online checkbook includes 8,400 individual transactions that represent more than $12.6 million in spending from January 2020 through March 2021.
“Transparency and accountability for the management and use of taxpayers’ dollars is a priority for the City of Kirtland,” said Mary Kovalchik, Finance Director for the City of Kirtland. “The Ohio Checkbook will further enhance Kirtland’s ability to provide taxpayers with transparent accountability on a timelier platform.”
OhioCheckbook.gov was launched in June 2020. The new transparency website combined OhioCheckbook.com (previously administered by the Treasurer’s office) and Ohio’s Interactive Budget (previously operated by the Office of Budget and Management) to create a single, one-stop resource for taxpayers to learn more about spending at the state and local levels of government.
By streamlining website administration, eliminating duplication, and reducing overall operating costs, OhioCheckbook.gov will keep government transparency at taxpayers’ fingertips for years to come.
