JUNE 2008

ARE YOU ARTSIER THAN A 5TH GRADER?  Beginner Drawing Class

Drawing doesn’t have to be intimidating! Our instructor Diane is a former elementary school art teacher looking to expand her horizons and wants to know if you are as artistic as the kids she has taught!  You will never know what kinds of undiscovered talents you possess without trying new things and this beginner drawing class is one such thing.  Artistic talent is optional, interest and desire to learn are more important. Six simple lessons, one hour each, will provide students with enough basic skills to draw successfully. Classes are from 10:00-11:00 on Monday and Wednesday mornings.  The first session is June 9-25 and cost is $12 (this includes all materials and supplies).

PANCAKES

The Senior Board is flipping flapjacks again this summer for you.  The next pancake breakfast is in the pavilion on Friday, June 13 from 9:00-11:00.  Cost is $2 for all you can eat pancakes.  If you bring a place setting (plate, cutlery, napkin, coffee cup), you save fifty-cents.  If you wear your flags and patriotic colors in celebration of Flag Day, you save another fifty-cents.  Anyone who brings a new member eats for free.  See you there!

KIRTLAND KIWANIS PAVILION PICNIC

Our next pavilion picnic is on Wednesday, June 11 at 11:00.  Join us as we have grilled Italian sausage (and peppers and onions) and enjoy cool desserts. Sign up with Andrea (256-3194) by June 4 to reserve your meal.  This meal is free to members thanks to funding from the Kirtland Kiwanis, so thank a Kiwanian when you see one!

LUNCH SITE TIME CHANGE

NEW IDEAS

We have a lot of new ideas for activities swirling around and could use your input.  Let us know what you think!  Some of the ideas include a board game day, to play scrabble, checkers, dominoes, or backgammon, purchasing a Wii video game in which the players participate in the games by mimicking the motions of the specific game (bowling, golf, race car driving etc.), horseshoe pits, corn hole games, an after lunch walking group once the sidewalk is installed, a paint by numbers class (customized to adult skill levels), and having a picnic just for the guys.  Your thoughts matter so please let the Senior Board or Jenna know and we will see what we can do to make new activities happen! Thanks!
