KIRTLAND SERVICE DEPARTMENT Public Service Administrator: Carmelo P. Catania (Carm) The Service Department has recently started doing all the resurfacing of the city streets in house, as opposed to being contracted to outside firms. The department is also continuing to do most of the drainage work within the city. Once a year the department contracts for the arterial roads to be stripped from various low-bid contractors. New signage work is also being installed by the city employees. Maintenance of all property and all city buildings, including cemeteries, and the recreational park areas is also the responsibility of the service department staff. Current Service Department personnel: Superintendent of Roads - Terry Nicholson Normal department hours: 7 am - 3 pm Wintertime: The department splits up and usually runs two 12-hour
shifts in order to make sure your roads are maintained and plowed during
all storms, day and night. We kindly ask all residents to advise any
snow plow contractors they have hired that they cannot plow snow onto
the city streets. Summertime: The department goes to four 10-hour days in order
to utilize as much daylight as possible, and for a more efficient operation
of large equipment and machinery.
